Opportunities are like butterflies.. So?

The secret is not to chase them but to build a garden that attracts them. The ability to identify opportunities and act on them is a guarantee for continual growth in life and business.
But can we acquire opportunity spotting as a ‘Cognitive Skill’? Is it possible to build the skill it takes to make opportunities come to us? Is it learnable?

How do we turn ourselves into “Opportunity Magnets” as individuals and Sales Professionals?

One way to do this is to 'enlarge our surface area.'
The surface area over which we attract opportunities can be made more expansive by
(1) Meeting more people
(2) Connecting unconnected ideas to find new approaches
(3) Expanding the time horizon
(4) Accessing mentors and experts
(5) Spotting patterns missed by others

There are tools and frameworks that can be used to identify opportunities. These include:
• White space model
• Adjacencies model
• Going micro in segmenting markets
• Relentless prospecting

Once you develop your ability to Identify Customers to whom you can deliver value, you succeed so well, it appears as if you possess a magic spell for pulling in Customers!
